About Stay
What is Stay a little longer?
Stay a little longer is a keepsake experience built around scent, memory, and time. It creates a dedicated place for meaningful clothing, photographs, letters, journaling, and small personal belongings connected to someone you love. Scent is where Stay begins, but the experience becomes deeply personal through the memories and items placed inside.
What makes Stay different from a traditional memory box?
Traditional memory boxes are often designed primarily for photographs, documents, or keepsakes. Stay adds another layer: scent. Meaningful clothing or fabric can carry a familiar scent that connects to memory and emotion in a different way than photographs or written memories alone. Stay brings that sensory connection together with photographs, letters, journaling, and keepsakes in one private experience.
Is Stay a scent-preservation product?
Stay is designed to help care for the natural scent carried by meaningful clothing or fabric, but it does not guarantee how long scent will remain noticeable. Scent is personal and naturally changes over time. Stay provides a thoughtful way to separate, seal, revisit, and care for meaningful items while limiting unnecessary exposure.
Who is Stay for?
Stay is for people who want a tangible, private way to remain connected to someone they love through meaningful belongings, scent, photographs, letters, and memory. It may be meaningful after the death of a spouse, parent, child, sibling, grandparent, friend, or another important person.
Is Stay a grief therapy product?
No. Stay is a supportive keepsake experience. It is not therapy, a medical device, or a treatment for grief. It can exist alongside professional grief support, counseling, hospice bereavement services, family traditions, faith practices, or private remembrance.
Why can scent feel so powerful after someone dies?
Scent has unusually direct connections with brain systems involved in memory and emotion. A familiar scent can sometimes evoke autobiographical memories, feelings, places, and experiences very quickly. Our Science & Research page explores this relationship in more depth.
Using Stay
What can I put inside Stay?
Stay can hold meaningful clothing or soft fabric, photographs, handwritten letters, cards, a journal, small personal belongings, and other keepsakes connected to the person being remembered. What makes Stay meaningful is not that every box is different when it arrives. It is that every Stay becomes different once someone makes it their own.
Why are there three pouches?
The three pouches give each person choices in how and when they return to meaningful items. They are called Stay for Now, Stay for Longer, and Stay for a While. There is no required schedule and no correct order of use.
Do I have to open all three pouches?
No. The pouches are separate so one can be opened while others remain sealed. Each pouch can also be resealed and returned to again. There is no right number of times to use Stay.
How long will the scent last?
There is no guaranteed length of time. Scent strength and longevity can vary based on the item, timing, previous washing, storage conditions, frequency of opening, and many other factors. Stay is designed to give meaningful items a thoughtful place and reduce unnecessary exposure, not to promise permanent scent.
Can Stay be given as a bereavement or sympathy gift?
Yes. Stay is designed to be meaningful without requiring the recipient to use it immediately. The person receiving it decides what to place inside, when to use it, and whether they want to return to it at all.
Can more than one family member have a Stay?
Yes. Different family members often have different memories, belongings, relationships, and ways of grieving. Professional partners may provide the first Stay, and additional direct consumer ordering will become available as the consumer release opens.
Can Stay be used after the loss of a pet?
Yes. The current Stay experience can be used with meaningful items connected to a beloved pet, including photographs, letters, small keepsakes, a collar, or an appropriate soft item carrying familiar scent. Pet-specific Stay products are also part of our future roadmap.
Will Stay offer personalization or customization?
Yes. Additional personalization and customization options are part of the Stay roadmap. The current Stay design is intentionally elegant and understated so it can work across many kinds of relationships, families, beliefs, and losses. The deepest personalization happens through what is placed inside.
For Professionals & Partners
Why does Stay work well for professional partners?
Stay provides a standardized experience that becomes highly personal through use. Partners do not need to know exactly what a family will want to remember or which objects will matter most. Stay provides the framework; the individual or family creates the meaning through their own clothing, photographs, letters, journal entries, memories, and keepsakes.
Can funeral homes offer Stay to families?
Yes. Funeral homes can purchase Stay through our professional partner program and offer it as part of family care, selected funeral or cremation services, aftercare programs, or individual gifting. We also have a dedicated Funeral Home Partnerships page with partner pricing and additional information.
Can hospice organizations use Stay?
Yes. Hospice organizations, bereavement coordinators, grief programs, social workers, counselors, and other professionals can explore gifting, referral, and organizational partnership models. Stay is designed to complement existing support rather than replace it.
Can employers use Stay as an employee bereavement gift?
Yes. Employers, HR teams, employee assistance programs, health systems, and other organizations can use Stay as part of bereavement gifting or employee-care programs. Because the product itself is intentionally understated and flexible, the person receiving it determines what makes it personal.
Can counselors or therapists recommend Stay without selling it?
Yes. Professionals do not need to stock or sell Stay in order to share it as a resource. Grief counselors, therapists, social workers, death doulas, clergy, care coordinators, and other professionals may simply introduce Stay when they believe it could be meaningful to someone they support.
Do professional partners need to keep inventory?
Not necessarily. Different partnership models may include bulk ordering, gifting programs, small-volume purchasing, referrals, or more customized organizational arrangements. Partners can contact Stay to discuss what fits their organization.
Is partner pricing available?
Yes. Professional partner pricing is currently available in quantities of 6, 12, and 24 boxes, with additional volume options available by request. Our current first partner release includes introductory partner pricing and priority fulfillment.
Ordering & Availability
Can I order Stay directly right now?
Stay is currently being introduced through professional and organizational partners as part of our limited first release. Direct individual ordering is coming next. Individuals and families can request Stay to be among the first to know when the consumer release opens.
Where can organizations learn more about becoming a Stay partner?
Professional organizations can visit the For Professionals page to explore referral, gifting, bulk-order, and program opportunities. Funeral homes also have a dedicated partnership page with information specific to funeral service and aftercare.
Is Stay only for funeral-related loss?
Stay was created around grief, remembrance, and continuing connection, but meaningful separation can take many forms. The current product is intentionally flexible rather than tied to one specific relationship, tradition, religion, or type of loss.
Still wondering whether Stay is right for someone?
Stay does not tell someone how to grieve.
It simply gives meaningful things a place — and gives the person using it the freedom to decide what to keep there, when to return, and what connection means to them.
Your pace. Your time. For as long as it lasts.
